Default Black specks on rear wheel

I just picked up my new 2009 red Raider. When I got home after 36 miles I had black specks all over the rear wheel. Is this a common thing with a new belt drive motorcycle or is the belt out of alinement? This is my first belt drive motorcycle.

While I wish that more people came here for info, if I were you I'd go check out this site. http://www.roadstarraider.com/ Many more people there and tons of pictures. They can probably address your issue real fast. Good luck with this and enjoy your Raider. I got to spend more time on one this last month and I gotta add on to my stable when I finish over here.

Default Black Specks

I took the Raider to the dealer and was told that something had gotten in the belt to cause this. They said they called Yamaha and Yamaha told them that if the bike sat for a long time this would cause this. I think the belt is too far to the left and that caused the specks because the belt rides on the left side of the rear pulley.

That's sounds like a possibility. I checked online at the above website and they were saying the hub bearing are heavily greased. Are you seeing a rubber flakes or something that smears? Sorry if I make it seems too simplistic but thought I'd ask. Found me a red S 09 as well and working on the financing aspect. Won't be until May though before I can pick it up. Joys of working overseas I guess.

Default Black specks

It's not grease it is rubber the is melted to my pipes. I can tell the difference between grease and rubber. Look at your back pulley and see where the belt rides and I'll bet it rides on the left side of the pulley. That's why I say it's cutting small parts of the belt off and the wheel is throwing them around back there. Make sence to you or not?

Don't have mine yet and I'm in Iraq. I can ask my brother though and see what his does. Were you able to visit the other site? Many others there that would have ideas. Wonder if you could adjust the rear wheel over to re-align it? Should be something in the specs in the manual. And yes, your idea makes sense to me.

Yes I think you could adjust the rear wheel to straighten it and make the belt run more in the center of the pulley. And yes I'm a member of the other site so I did ask the same question there also.
