Seems most guys are happy with the 2008 raider. personally i think its a beauty. before i go purchase the 2009 S in a few weeks, i'm looking for negative feedback. what dont you like? i've heard reports of overheating at 40 degree farenheit in slow to stopped traffic, some wiring probs and heavy in the turns. I stand 6 feet and 215 pounds. hows it for the taller guys? thanks.

thanks for reply RSR. you've had no overheating probs then i take it. always been liquid cooled; air may be a big change. thanks again dude. red or black is toughest choice now!

I purchased mine last spring and rode all summer with no problems. I've been stuck in plenty of stop and go traffic in 100 + degrees with no problem. I too was skeptical of a bike that wasn't liquid cooled as all my previous bikes had radiators. The salesman told me that Yamaha designed the Raider to alternate the pistons if it gets too hot in traffic. I've never read that anywhere, haven't heard of it happening and mine never did it so I don't know if it's true. I usually take what a salesman tells me with a grain of salt so it wasn't a factor for me when I purchased it. I just figured I could shut the bike down at the long stop lights if I had to, but I haven't had to do that either.

I had a VTX 1300 and I thought the Raider was better at running the mountain curves. I also had a 750 Magna which was WAY smoother and faster at running the twisties but I prefer to cruise instead of going from point a to point b as fast as possible anyway.

I can't help you on your question for a fit cause I'm only 5' 9" with a 28 inch inseam. That brings me the only complaint I have about the bike. I wish the seat was an inch lower into the frame. With both feet down, my right leg is too close to the exhaust so on the really hot days I have to keep the right foot on the peg. It's not a small bike so I think it would fit you fine.

I have to agree with most and saw there is not a whole lot that is negative about the bike. I am 6'5 and the thing I changed that made the biggest difference in comfort is the forward extentions. A cheap way to make your bike comfortable. I would also suggest something to protect the oil filter.
