Hope ya'll don't mind - just thought I would post some pictures to give you something to read. Like I posted earlier, I am presently riding a Valkyrie, but am looking at adding a Raider. Anyway, hope ya'll don't mind.....
I left out last Thursday with two other riders and we rode over and saw the USS Alabama in Mobile and the Naval Aviation Musuem in Pensacola and made our way over to Panama City for a get together. (I am from Lafayette, Louisiana). The two guys I was riding with were going to continue south for a couple of days. I split off and came back solo because I needed to get back home (on Sunday) since I leave for Africa tomorrow (where I work). I saw the Air Force Armament Musuem north of Gulf Springs and stayed in Pascagoula, Ms for the night. Sunday monring, I stopped by the Mississippi Viet Nam Memorial and rode along the coast road (90) in Mississippi. I stopped by Beauvoir (Beautiful View in French). This was the retirement home of Jefferson Davis - the only president of the Confederate States of America.
Thought I would share it with you.....
This is Beauvoir today. (What a beautiful place)

THis is what she looked like after Hurricane Katrina came across the Gulf Coast. The floors to the main house are 23 feet above sea level and it took a 26 foot tidal surge sending 3 feet of water crashing through the main house.

It has taken them 3 years to get the house put back together. They are still working on it but it opened for viewing in June.

From the turn of the century until 1957, the home and grounds were used for a Veterens home for Confederate Soldiers. In the back of the property is the Tomb of the Unknown Confederate Soldier. I got to pay my respects.

Anyway, I thought this place was cool and thought I would share it with you. Hope you don't mind. I know it is not Raider related, but it is RIDE related.
It is on I-90 between Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi.
Safe winds!
